The Irish Sea Nuclear Free Flotilla will also be in France, supporting the Cherbourg Flotilla in maintaining a presence at sea opposing the cargo ships carrying the plutonium from the United States. At lease one Irish yacht, Synoptic, will be sailed by Neil McCann and Brendan Rohan. (Brendan’s boat Spinner took part in the earlier 2002 Flotilla at Barrow-in-Furness and was part of the encounter with the nuclear cargo ship Pintail when she approached and entered the harbour at Barrow.) Synoptic and crew will arrive in Cherbourg on Thursday and will stand by with the Cherbourg Flotilla boats awaiting the arrival of the Pintail and the Teal.
